Cabo Verde - July 28, 2005 - Sal island

Today I took a beautiful Yellowfin Tuna of 65-67 kg. The weight is uncertain because I had, to weight it, a scale of ONLY 50 kg.

By the way, it’s a somewhat breathtaking sensation to witness the needle of the scale make a full rotation and continue over the end!

It was the last one, and by far the smaller, of four that went to the flasher, circled it, and disappeared in the blue at their usual breakneck pace. And, dear reader, the FIRST one was really a dream fish.

The last one hesitated and circled it twice. I was ready for that…

Luckily, the sharks today decided to leave THIS fish intact!

Oggi ho preso un bel Tonno Pinne Gialle di 65-67 chili. Il peso non è certo perché avevo, per pesarlo, una bilancia che arrivava SOLO fino a 50 chili.

E' una sensazione che toglie davvero un po' il fiato osservare l'ago della bilancia compiere una rotazione completa e continuare oltre la fine!

Era l'ultimo, e di gran lunga il più piccolo, di quattro che sono arrivati sul flasher, ci sono girati intorno, e sono scomparsi nel blu con la loro solita folle velocità.

E, caro lettore, il PRIMO era davvero un pesce da sogno.

L'ultimo ha esitato e ci ha girato intorno due volte. E io ero preparato a questa evenienza...

Per fortuna, gli squali hanno deciso di lasciare oggi QUESTO pesce integro!

Many sharks in these days. Today a massive one, way more than three metres, was hungry but gentle: it took only the head of the Wahoo, a portion that anyway has to be throw away when cleaning it.

When tried, after that, to eat the whole fish, found two ugly, sharp guns, pointed on his nose. Gently, decided to sink…

Molti squali in questi giorni. Oggi uno bello massiccio, ben più di tre metri, era affamato ma gentile: ha preso solo la testa del Wahoo, una parte che in ogni modo deve essere buttata via quando lo si pulisce.

Quando ha tentato, subito dopo, di mangiare il pesce intero, ha trovato due orribili, aguzzi fucili puntati contro il suo naso. Gentilmente, ha deciso di sprofondare...
